Chehalis Music in the Park Week Wrap-up and thank-you

The 2026 Chehalis Music in the Park series came to an end last Friday night and it was Spectacular! A huge crowd was treated to two outstanding bands. “Can’t Get Enough” a tribute to Bad Company got it started and then “Whiskey River” a tribute to Lynyrd Skynyrd tore up the stage with a sizzling performance. They finished with a 12-minute version of Freebird that was a show stopper.

Congratulations to Deon Hansen of Winlock for winning our concert ticket contest. Deon won 4 tickets to Train and the Barenaked Ladies at Cascades Amphitheater in Ridgefield on August 29.

Thank y0u to everyone who came out for the shows and to all our sponsors, it was a great year!

This is the weekend that treasure hunters invade Downtown Centralia. Hundreds of vendors line the streets offering their wares. There are prices on everything but don’t be afraid to haggle! Food options and plenty of restaurants in downtown to fit everyone’s taste.

This is also a reminder for locals who drive through downtown to be very careful, slow down and if you are not stopping in for Antique fest an alternate route will probably be a better idea.

Mohney At the Movies

Current movies at the Theaters and some likely already streaming include week #2 of “The Odyssey”. The movie grossed 265-million in it’s 1st week. The 3 hour Summer Blockbuster has it’s critics but clearly many are enjoying the latest Blockbuster.

Other movies out include for kids, Moana, Toys Story 5 and Minions and Monsters.

Spider-Man Brand New Day is set to open this weekend as well for the Superhero folks.

Mohney FM’s Home Movie Choice of the week brought to you by our in-house Movie Critic Al “The Popcorn Prophet” Stallone (the even lesser known brother to Sly if that’s possible…Frank)

Last week The Popcorn Prophet went big with the biggest movie of all time for that time period of 1975 and the original Jaws. This week he wants to encourage you to step back to 1973 for a true classic, comedy-thriller with “The Sting”. Paul Newman and Robert Redford starred and used the momentum they gained from Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid into The Sting.

It’s based in the 1930’s and a con man and confidence man team up to take down the Mob. The moving was released on Christmas Day 1973. It won 7 of the 10 Academy Awards it was nominated for including Best Picture.

Musically, “The Entertainer” a rag time piano instrumental from 1902 was adapted by Marvin Hamlisch and won an Academy Award for best Original song and the instrumental would reach #3 on the Hot 100 Billboard charts.

It’s a fun, fast paced movie that many will love to see again and for many the first time will be just as enjoyable.
